Another first time this year. Brought this columbine back from the Galley's cottage 4 years ago and the caterpillers always got to it before it bloomed. Last year I moved it to the fence garden and they're leaving it alone.
Mom's columbine! Well and some other stuff but they just seem to massacre the columbines. Oh and now that I have some control over the slugs and my dahlias, the aphids have taken over there.
This is the first year that I've noticed it being an issue. Because we had such a mild winter, all the bug populations are up. There are some serious issues with fire ants around the city but we don't have any bothering us - thank God! I was just on a wander and discovered that the caterpillers have discovered my orange honeysuckle :(
What are they eating instead?

I was kind of hopeful that aphids did not like dahlia.
